Cytology Specialist

Key Responsibilities
Prepare and screen all cytologic specimens, assisting on fine needle procedures and interpreting findings under the direction of a pathologist as described in regulatory standards. Follow laboratory policies and procedures in accordance with all regulatory agency requirements, including CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, and CLIA. Determine that test results meet requirements of the quality control program and repeat tests as necessary to ensure results are approved for reporting. Maintain all necessary records and documentation. Utilize critical thinking skills and complex problem-solving in the resolution of clinical and instrument problems.
Requirements
Required: Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Cytology, or a related field. May be waived by the manager if appropriately licensed, depending on amount and type of experience. 2-4 years of experience required. Cytologist - Board Registered or specialist in Cytology by recognized credentialing board. Eligible to become Registered. LC - Licensed Cytologist.
