Position Summary
RMC is seeking a Radar Systems Specialist to offer technical support and expertise in addressing intricate radar challenges. The successful candidate will be instrumental in providing comprehensive assistance in all facets of Tethered Aerostat Radar systems.
Key Responsibilities
The selected individual will be responsible for:
- Serving as a subject matter expert on various complex radar systems and related equipment.
- Assisting the squadron and leadership in program/project development, planning, and assessment.
- Gathering and interpreting data from multiple radar systems and data processors.
- Conducting both formal and informal training on equipment, components, and procedures, including the creation and evaluation of course curricula.
- Managing personnel assigned to specific programs or projects, fostering collaborative working relationships, and ensuring team objectives are met.
- Performing maintenance and testing procedures on radar antennas, which may require climbing.
- Providing support to subject matter experts on various radar systems and associated equipment.
Required Competencies
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A comprehensive understanding of electronics and ground radar equipment operations, techniques, and analysis.
- Proficiency in computer programming and the use of various software applications for data collection and analysis.
- Experience in statistical and mathematical modeling relevant to data analysis and sensor evaluation.
- Ability to analyze and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and specifications related to radar systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships within diverse teams.
- Competence in writing reports, delivering presentations, and developing training materials.
- Knowledge of long-range radar data collection and performance analysis.
- Experience in evaluating radar systems, with a minimum of 6 years in radar assessments.
- Capability to compile and analyze radar equipment data and identify operational deficiencies.
- Familiarity with surveying methods and techniques affecting radar line of sight.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED is required, while a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field is preferred. Candidates must be able to obtain USAF Tower Climbing Certification and hold an active DoD Secret clearance. Experience in radar theory and maintenance operations, along with a minimum of 4 years working with complex radar systems, is essential.
