Position Overview:

The Healthcare Patient Services Coordinator operates at the forefront of OnPoint Medical Group's clinics. This role is essential in welcoming patients, managing phone inquiries, activating patient files, and guiding patients through established protocols to facilitate a seamless visit with our healthcare providers. Exceptional customer service is paramount, as this position often represents the first point of contact for patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Greet incoming patients, whether in person or via phone, with professionalism and warmth.
  2. Conduct pre-visit preparations, including contacting patients for updated insurance information, verifying coverage, and ensuring patient records are current.
  3. Register new patients and confirm the accuracy of existing patient information.
  4. Collect co-pays and other payments as necessary.
  5. Handle inbound calls to schedule appointments and serve as a liaison for patient inquiries with clinical staff.
  6. Perform administrative tasks to ensure efficient patient visits, timely billing processes, and a well-organized front office.
  7. Make outbound calls to patients for appointment scheduling.
  8. Strive to meet or exceed established service standards.
  9. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  10. Exhibit punctuality and regular attendance as a core responsibility.
  11. Follow management directives and instructions.
  12. Collaborate effectively within a team while also completing individual tasks.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient computer skills are essential.

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • Some college coursework in medical, business, or accounting fields.
  • Experience in customer service.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a business office or clinical setting.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems, particularly Athenahealth practice management.

Job Elements and Working Conditions:

  • Regularly required to stand, use hands for various tasks, reach, and communicate effectively.
  • Occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • May need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and occasionally lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
