ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Compliance Assurance Analyst plays a critical role in fostering a robust compliance culture across the organization. This position involves supporting the establishment and upkeep of a comprehensive assurance program that identifies, assesses, and monitors compliance with relevant laws and regulations. You will execute risk-based compliance monitoring and testing initiatives under the guidance of the Compliance Assurance Manager to ensure adherence to applicable legal standards.
KEY FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Conducting complex monitoring and testing tasks with minimal oversight, including the creation of risk-based documentation, procedures, and templates to assess the effectiveness of control measures in line with the annual compliance schedule.
- Accurately documenting monitoring and testing activities in accordance with departmental standards, clearly outlining objectives, scope, and supporting conclusions from test results.
- Preparing comprehensive reports that summarize findings, including root cause analyses.
- Verifying the execution of remediation plans proposed by issue owners to ensure that identified issues are effectively addressed.
- Following up on action plans for issues raised during monitoring or testing to ensure timely completion, including obtaining monthly updates from action plan owners and updating statuses in the governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) tool.
- Identifying opportunities to leverage data analytics and statistical methods to automate the testing of control activities and regulatory components.
- Analyzing complaint data to detect trends, compliance gaps, and potential risks.
- Utilizing social media monitoring tools and AI-driven software for ongoing regulatory compliance assessments.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations, including but not limited to Regulation E, Truth in Savings Act, UDAAP, FACTA, Reg Z, Reg B, and the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
- Building and nurturing strong relationships with key stakeholders and team members.
- Assisting in the annual compliance risk assessment process.
- Delivering internal services that align with Coastal's core values.
- Adapting to other responsibilities as required in our dynamic organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to interpret and analyze governmental regulations and guidance.
- Strong investigative and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to provide practical recommendations.
- Capability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
- Independent judgment and proficiency in performing complex analytical tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to summarize complex issues and interact with individuals at all organizational levels.
- Self-motivated with exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships across various levels.
- Proficiency in standard office software, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Bank Regulatory Compliance, Audit, or Risk Management, including at least 1 year in compliance testing or monitoring.
- Experience in both fintech and traditional banking environments is preferred.
- Expertise in consumer protection regulations and the internal controls necessary to mitigate associated risks, with experience in both lending and deposit regulations.
- Proficiency in data analysis for trend identification and compliance monitoring.
- CRCM certification or completion of specialized compliance training is advantageous.
