We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team at Snohomish County PUD #1. This role will play a critical part in supporting environmental programs and providing technical expertise in areas such as Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Clean Water Act (CWA), spill prevention and response plans and activities, environmental health including toxicity, industrial hygiene, chemical safety and management, and the PUD's Environmental and Sustainability Management System.

This position offers both strategic and tactical components, providing direction in environmental compliance and sustainability. The successful candidate will accomplish tasks of routine to moderate complexity, including critical analysis to identify factors for decision-making. They will track emerging regulations that could be reasonably applicable to the PUD, develop and implement programs to reduce the company's impact, track environmental and sustainability metrics, and recommend targets and annual goals to meet strategic plan initiatives.

The Environmental Compliance Specialist will also participate in PUD's spill response, rotating on-call after-hours response duties with three other team members. Responsibilities:

  • Support environmental programs and provide technical expertise in areas such as EPCRA, RCRA, CWA, and spill prevention and response plans and activities.
  • Develop and implement programs to reduce the company's impact on the environment.
  • Track emerging regulations and recommend targets and annual goals to meet strategic plan initiatives.
  • Participate in PUD's spill response and rotate on-call after-hours response duties with three other team members.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental health, environmental science, engineering, or technical or scientific field relating to environmental matters.
  • Two (2) years' experience in the application of environment laws/regulations to business, industry, or governmental operations.
  • Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response certification (HAZWOPER).
