Senior Structural Engineer - Infrastructure Engineering

Tesla is seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer to join our Infrastructure Engineering team at our Fremont, CA factory. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting the design and construction of various new projects and renovations to existing industrial, manufacturing, and office facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate structural design on multidiscipline project teams, including Architectural, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Piping/Plumbing professionals.
  • Conduct structural analysis and design of concrete and steel structures, along with the creation of justifying structural calculations.
  • Make technical assumptions, think independently to complete assigned work, and draw conclusions based on engineering judgment.
  • Present 30% 60% 90% design reviews to stakeholders and multi-discipline teams.
  • Complete field work independently or with the design team.
  • Provide planning estimates with limited scoping information.
  • Manage structural projects from estimating through construction.
  • Support bidding and construction admin, RFI review, Submittal and Shop drawing approvals, and response to field issues.
  • Direct, develop, and mentor less experienced engineering staff.
  • Maintain and improve factory structural elements to meet long-term needs.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Civil/Structural engineering, or equivalent experience with a minimum of 6 years in professional construction.
  • Registered and in good standing as a Professional Engineer (PE) with an active NCEES record and ability to acquire PE license in CA within 6 months.
  • Familiarity with Revit Structural.
  • Advanced level understanding of California building code and structural design standards.
  • Advanced proficiency in structural design with various materials such as steel, concrete, Unistrut, cold-form steel, steel welding, and reinforcement details of concrete.
  • Advanced proficiency in lateral (seismic/wind) and foundation design and related code requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in design considering constructability and construction sequence for fabrication/installation.
  • Advanced proficiency in developing structural plans, details, and supporting calculations for Permit and Construction packages, including responding to Plan Check.
  • Experience in structural design of buildings for high-tech infrastructure, industrial, or operational facilities (automobile manufacturing, semiconductor, solar, battery, etc.) is a huge plus.

Expected Compensation: $112,000 - $222,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
