Job Title: Quality and Continuous Improvement Manager

The Quality and Continuous Improvement Manager will play a crucial role in driving quality and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. This individual will lead the execution of cross-functional strategies and plans to ensure the company's production system quality control roadmap is executed effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the plant's continuous improvement initiative by utilizing Cornerstone Building Brands Production System Methodologies to ensure continuous, systemic, and sustainable elimination of waste.
  • Develop and implement effective methods for inspection, testing, sampling, and training to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Manage all CTQ, prioritization quality matrix (QPM), problem-solving, and other modules as part of the Corporate Quality strategy.
  • Execute and maintain all reporting documentation for quality-related topics as required.
  • Provide support for all company-established quality programs as required.
  • Ensure measuring equipment calibrations are being performed and kept up with per schedule.
  • Work with suppliers to provide defect-free components for use in the manufacturing process.
  • Ensure alignment of data collection and analysis with organizational quality objectives.
  • Manage and champion all lean concepts, kaizen events, and other modules as part of the Corporate Continuous Improvement strategy.
  • Facilitate and lead the continuous improvement process by identifying training needs and providing training in problem-solving methodology, Kaizen, 5S, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, PDCA.
  • Engage the leadership team in setting and achieving goals utilizing Lean initiatives.
  • Direct and coordinate CI and process engineering activities in the plant.
  • Ensure that CTO and CI activities are aligned with goals for each plant and with the Regional CI Manager.
  • Provide input and feedback to key leadership positions about process improvement opportunities.
  • Lead efforts to develop and deliver training.
  • Assist in the hiring, leadership, development, coaching, supervision, evaluation, and disciplining of departmental staff.
  • Coach hourly production associates on process adherence as it relates to CI and Quality Assurance.
  • Conduct monthly training sessions with hourly associates on quality standards and practices.
  • Coordinate with plant leadership team and material suppliers to maintain compliance with certification requirements.
  • Provide tactical coaching on Lean Methodology and other CI techniques.
  • Assist plant leadership with leading problem-solving activities (PDCA).

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or five to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six Sigma certification a plus.
  • The successful candidate will have at least 5+ years of manufacturing experience and at least 2 years of quality experience or continuous improvement.
  • Enthusiastic about the value quality and continuous improvement brings to the manufacturing process and passionate about keeping technical skills up to date, understanding best practices, and deploying quality systems and kaizen events to achieve prescribed goals and targets.
  • Displays a strong ability to use data to rationally analyze and solve issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to train staff and run events.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • AutoCAD experience a plus.
  • Available for minimal travel (10%), for training and knowledge sharing.
