Job Title: Senior Structural Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer to join our team at DLR Group. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the design of structural systems for buildings across various sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design of structural systems for buildings, including concrete, masonry, steel, and wood/timber structures.
  • Develop and lead a structural engineering team to produce high-quality construction documents using Revit.
  • Manage project schedules to meet deliverable requirements and collaborate closely with other disciplines to produce highly integrated building designs.
  • Work directly with the regional discipline leader to assist in developing work plans, project schedules, budgets, and proposals for both internal teams and external clients.
  • Strive for excellence in developing structural solutions from concept through construction.
  • Be a decision-maker in developing system layouts, narratives, calculations, and engineering reports.
  • Welcome deep collaboration with architects, other engineers, and clients as part of our integrated design process.
  • Learn and adapt to variations in building codes and construction practices while working on projects around the US.
  • Produce construction documents using Revit.
  • Assist contractors by reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, and participating in O/A/C meetings.
  • Pass along knowledge by mentoring entry-level staff.
  • Promote workflow and technical standards best-practices for our diverse multi-office practice.
  • Contribute to managing the operations, execution, and expectations for the Structural Engineering Discipline in California.
  • Partner with sector and practice leadership to perform all personnel functions such as selection, training, and evaluation of personnel.
  • Support business development initiatives by assisting the RFP process, participating in project interviews, and actively engaging in community and/or industry-specific organizations that will build the DLR Group brand.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of building-related structural engineering experience, including the design of concrete, masonry, steel, and wood/timber structures.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of California, Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) preferred.
  • Prior experience leading teams of engineers on projects.
  • Working knowledge of current structural software (ETABS, SAP, SAFE, RAM, ADAPT, RISA, Enercalc).
  • Experience with BIM including Autodesk Revit workflow.
  • Goal-oriented with strong skills in problem-solving, creativity, and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of commercial building materials, systems, and assemblies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Passion for sustainable building design and SE2050 commitment.
  • Experience with directing and coordinating project activities of junior staff.

The potential pay range for this role is $116,000 - $175,000.
