Job Title: Durable Medical Equipment Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Specialist to join our team at Focus: Meds Pharmacy and Wellness.

Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year based on experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Coodinate and arrange medically necessary equipment for patients, addressing any issues with referring physicians as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, physicians, site coordinators, practice managers, and clinical professional staff.
  • Administer DME products to patients under the direct supervision of pharmacists, adhering to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Maintain inventory of DME and supplies.
  • Report any issues to administrators or site coordinators.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Assist administrators or site coordinators as needed.
  • Participate in all clinical in-service activities.
  • Participate in committee activities as assigned.
  • Makes themselves available to other staff when not involved in own duties.
  • Perform monthly DME duties as per the DME manual.
  • Orient and provide in-services as directed by administrators.
  • Communicate, cooperate, and give assistance in a prompt and courteous manner to patients, coworkers, and medical staff to ensure client satisfaction with the service of the DME program.
  • Assist administrators or site coordinators with quality assurance, utilization review, program evaluation, infection control, and safety committee activities.
  • Supervise other DME employees.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A degree in a related field such as ATC, PT, PTA, OT, or OTA; ability to fit durable medical products like braces and slings.
  • At least 1 year of DME experience.
  • An Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent training and experience.
  • Knowledge of reimbursement guidelines, medical terminology, and DME billing codes preferred.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the flexibility to manage multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines.

Working Conditions

This is a fast-paced pharmacy environment that requires sitting and standing. Manual dexterity is necessary to operate a computer and office equipment, and to write legibly. Vision sufficient to read standard text and data on computer screens and paper forms.
