The Nutrition Services Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the proper setup and delivery of meals and supplies for patients and non-patient food service. This position requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
Key Responsibilities- Collects patient meal and snack choices according to diet order, ensuring that patients' age-specific, food allergy, religious, cultural, and food preference needs are met.
- Prepares tray tickets for tray-line and collects food and supplies for service, assembling patient meals and snacks accurately according to diet order and tray ticket.
- Receives and stores product deliveries, organizing new products in proper location and discarding dented products or extra packaging.
- Stocks assigned areas with products, including condiments, paper goods, food, beverages, and chemicals, according to defined par levels or procedures.
- Cleans and sanitizes assigned pantry and kitchen surfaces and equipment, following defined procedures.
- Records data, such as food storage temperatures, dishwasher temperatures, and meal counts, and logs data in proper area.
- Prepares orders for food, beverages, paper goods, and supplies, and places orders according to facility procedure.
- Monitors patient information, such as admission, discharge, transfer, and diet order changes, and initiates follow-up actions as needed.
- Utilizes facility technology to complete assigned tasks, including logging on and off personal computer and using assigned programs.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
- Data entry skills utilizing Word or Excel database systems.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Six months experience in nutritional services department/diet office in an acute care or skilled nursing facility.
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets.
This position is located in a hospital setting and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of attention to detail. The Nutrition Services Coordinator must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
