Job Summary

The Director of Nutrition and Food Services at UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and management of all nutrition and food services at the Medical Center's hospitals and clinics at the Mission Bay campus.

This role involves advocating for nutrition and food services at the Mission Bay campus and coordinating operations with other department campuses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Developing a clear departmental vision and mission consistent with those of the Medical Center, and ensuring that staff members understand their role in achieving the vision and mission.
  • Working with staff to set goals and measurable performance standards to ensure that goals are met.
  • Ensuring that the department complies with all nutrition, food service, and dietetic education standards developed by licensing and accrediting agencies.
  • Projecting, controlling, and complying with budgetary standards, maintaining fiscal responsibility for revenues, expenses, and FTE expenditures for UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay.
  • Actively supporting and participating in teaching dietetic interns as well as working with the Internship Director to coordinate operational and educational goals of the department.
  • Supporting nutrition-related research projects and publications of dietitians.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in management, nutrition, health care administration, or another related field.
  • Minimum of years of experience in a leadership role in a large, hospital-based department.
  • Experience teaching dietetic interns or other students.
  • Evidence of professional growth and effective leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage complex personnel problems and a union environment.
