KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct thorough reviews and create both 2D and 3D drawings for Fire Alarm and Systems installations, ensuring seamless coordination with various subcontractor teams.
  • Engage in collaborative meetings to identify and resolve design conflicts while adhering to budget constraints and compliance with NEC standards.
  • Generate detailed shop drawings, including cross-sections for underground conduits and cabling, along with other electrical systems as needed for guidance to fabrication and installation teams.
  • Draft and submit documentation for design clarifications through Requests for Information (RFIs) and manage follow-up communications.
  • Interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical plans, sections, and elevations accurately.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to troubleshoot issues, clarify drawings, and implement necessary adjustments for production or construction teams.
  • Travel to various project locations as necessary.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Adhere to all operational policies, procedures, and safety protocols established by the company.
QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the essential duties outlined above. The following qualifications are essential:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate for the Fire Alarm/Systems BIM/VDC Coordinator position will possess either a Journeyman Electrician certification with Fire Alarm experience or have a proven track record as an Assistant BIM/VDC Detailer or in a related engineering, technical design, or construction management role. Specific educational and experiential requirements include:

  • If a Journeyman Electrician, the following are mandatory:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Verification of Journeyman's license.
  • A minimum of 2 years of drafting experience, with at least 3 years in relevant fields.
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction blueprints, specifications, and RFIs across various disciplines (architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and special systems).
  • Expertise in 3D coordination with other trades.
  • Basic computer skills, including folder management, email usage, and keyboard shortcuts.
  • Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
  • Familiarity with BIM 360 Glue, BIM Collaborate, or similar model viewing/collaboration software is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

For candidates with experience as a BIM/VDC Assistant Coordinator, Assistant BIM/VDC Detailer, or related roles, the following qualifications are required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience as a BIM/VDC Assistant Coordinator, or 5 years as an Assistant BIM/VDC Detailer or in a related engineering, technical design, or construction management role utilizing Autodesk Revit.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, BIM 360 Glue, BIM Collaborate, or similar software is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of construction blueprints, specifications, and RFIs across various disciplines.
  • Knowledge of 3D coordination with other trades.
  • Basic computer skills, including folder management, email usage, and keyboard shortcuts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
