Job Summary:

HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Intensive Care Unit team. As an ICU RN, you will provide high-quality patient care to critically ill adults and geriatric patients, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process.
  • Collaborate with other members of the healthcare delivery team, including physicians, to deliver quality patient care.
  • Participate in unit-based Quality Improvement processes to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Support and maintain an environment that promotes quality patient care through effective use of resources and personnel.
  • Practice, develop, and endorse customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Serve as the patient and family advocate, protecting confidential information and promoting patient-centered care.
  • Plan and implement patient care and teaching based on a total assessment and the age of the patient.
  • Evaluate and document patient response, monitoring and recognizing changes in physiological and psychosocial status, and taking appropriate action based on assessment.
  • Actively seek ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or services delivered.
  • Follow established guidelines for reporting potential patient safety issues and significant medical errors or unanticipated outcomes in patient care.

Requirements:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required.
  • Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RN license required.
  • BLS-American Heart Association BLS Provider issued card required.
  • ACLS-American Heart Association ACLS Provider issued card required.
  • 1-3 years of acute care experience preferred.

Work Environment:

The Intensive Care Unit is a 20-bed unit located on the 1st floor of HCA Gulf Coast Hospital. This unit is designated to accommodate critically ill adult and geriatric patients who have undergone surgical procedures or have intensive cardiac or respiratory medical needs.

Competencies:

The competencies identified for this position are summarized and reviewed periodically throughout employment. The required behaviors and measurement associated with core, job-specific, age-specific, and management (if applicable) competencies are maintained in the department education file.

Physical Requirements:

This position is classified as Medium-Heavy Work, exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, 35 pounds frequently, and 15 pounds constantly.

Working Conditions:

Hospital rooms, common areas, clinical and non-clinical departments, and hospital grounds. Potential hazards include exposure to blood or body fluids, extreme conditions, hot or cold, communicable diseases, dust/fumes/gases, unprotected heights, moving mechanical parts, CRT monitor, potential electrical shock, frequent, repetitive motions, x-ray electromagnetic energy, and other hazards listed.
