Substance Misuse Prevention Coordinator

PRIMARY ROLE:
Under the supervision of the Prevention Supervisor, the role focuses on delivering community outreach, educational initiatives, training, and brief intervention services aimed at preventing substance misuse and suicidal behaviors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluate the community's current needs and available programs to identify the most effective service delivery methods.
- Deliver educational programs on prevention strategies to youth, families, and the broader community.
- Conduct training sessions on suicide prevention and intervention techniques.
- Offer brief intervention services addressing substance use and suicidal tendencies among youth.
- Design, develop, and execute programming for the youth clubhouse.
- Organize and implement community events, presentations, and special initiatives.
- Coordinate services and collaborate with other programs within the Behavioral Health Unit, Seneca Nation initiatives, and external organizations.
- Participate in all required staff meetings, training sessions, and in-service events.
- Adhere to all policies established by the Seneca Nation Health System.
- Foster a collaborative environment among staff to ensure high-quality service delivery to clients.
- Perform additional duties as assigned or requested.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor's Degree in Human Services is required. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. Proficiency in computer applications, including Word and Excel, is necessary for reporting and coordination tasks. Candidates must achieve CPP credentials within three years of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master's Degree in a Human Services-related field along with three years of supervised experience is preferred. Candidates with CPS/CPP credentials are highly desirable. Previous experience in public speaking, group facilitation, training, event planning, program development, and working with at-risk youth is advantageous.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position necessitates prolonged computer use. The role also involves various physical activities such as sitting, driving, listening, observing, cleaning, writing, conversing, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods. The ability to lift or reach above and below shoulder height, as well as light to medium lifting or carrying, is required.
