Position Summary
We are looking for a Lead Flight Control Systems Engineer to play a pivotal role in the advancement of our Fly-by-Wire (FBW) flight control systems for our technical demonstrator hybrid electric eSTOL aircraft, along with other initiatives. This position offers a unique opportunity to directly influence a groundbreaking development program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering expertise across all facets of FBW flight control system development, encompassing system architecture, hardware integration, software development, and flight control algorithm design.
  • Establish simulation models and testing environments to validate control algorithms.
  • Offer specialized knowledge, conduct technical reviews, provide design direction, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Formulate subsystem and component specifications that align with safety, performance, and business goals.
  • Oversee functional and physical interactions between the flight control system and the aircraft.
  • Lead verification efforts, including analysis and testing, for the flight control system.
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, partners, and internal teams to ensure project coherence.
  • Effectively communicate details regarding flight control system design, requirements, and performance to various stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related STEM field.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in applicable areas (or a combination of education and experience).
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience in developing aircraft control systems and integrated flight hardware.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to independently manage responsibilities.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB / Simulink.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Experience in the development of FBW aircraft systems from initial design to production.
  • Familiarity with setting up testing and simulation environments for flight control avionics.
  • Background in developing safety-critical systems.
  • Experience with prototype development programs.
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), certification processes, and relevant industry standards.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency preferred.
  • Licensed pilot status is advantageous.
Work Environment:
  • Work is generally conducted in a warehouse/aviation and office setting, necessitating adherence to safety protocols. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs may be required.
Travel Requirements: Minimal travel expected.

Compensation:
Electra Aero offers a competitive salary range for this role, reflecting the company's overall compensation structure across various locations and projects. Individual compensation will be determined based on factors such as project budgets, relevant skills, experience, education, role, and location.
