Key Responsibilities- Lead the design and development of aircraft structural components, including airframe, wings, and control surfaces.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design meets performance, weight, and cost targets.
- Develop and maintain CAD models and drawings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Conduct design reviews and ensure designs meet requirements, including structural integrity, interface boundaries, and weight targets.
- Coordinate with stress, manufacturing, procurement, quality control, and other departments to mature the design from conception to production.
- Prepare and present technical documentation, including design reports, technical specifications, and presentations.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in aerospace, with significant experience in composite materials and structural design.
- Proficiency in CATIA V5, with experience in Generative Surface Design, Part Design, and Assembly.
- Familiarity with industry standards for composite materials, including ASME Y14.5 and ASME Y14.41.
- Experience with product data management systems, such as StarTeam or Enovia LCA.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
- Significant experience with engineering and manufacturing development and production of structural parts and assemblies utilizing composite materials.
- Experience with composite part detail process, including composites stacking sequence, lamination theory, honeycomb core, bonded assemblies, manufacturing assembly and fabrication processes, post-cure machining operations.
- Knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5, along with tolerance analysis capabilities.
- Experience with application of ASME Y14.41 methods for Model Based Definition using CATIA V5 FTA (Functional Tolerancing and Annotations).
The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, with ability to maneuver around equipment in test labs and on aircraft, and work in a manufacturing facility supporting all elements of composite and metal manufacturing.
Salary RangeThe salary range for this position is $80,000.00 to $142,000.00 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
