Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Meskwaki Language Teacher Substitute to join our team at the Meskwaki Settlement School. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching traditional Meskwaki values and related areas to students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement lesson plans for the Meskwaki Language/Culture curriculum, incorporating traditional Meskwaki values and related areas.
  • Plan and organize learning activities to meet the individual needs of students, promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Maintain order in the classroom and school premises, adhering to the Meskwaki Settlement School PBIS guidelines.
  • Evaluate student progress and adjust instructional methods accordingly.
  • Prepare and maintain records, including grades for each student, quarterly and at the end of each semester.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to incorporate Meskwaki Language & Culture into general education units and lessons.
  • Attend staff meetings and professional development as directed by the Administration.
  • Participate in extra-curricular events and activities, promoting the use of the Meskwaki language school-wide.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with tribal and local community groups, promoting the Meskwaki language and culture.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required; AA degree or equivalent post-secondary education preferred.
  • Ability to speak, read, and/or write Meskwaki Language fluently preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the Meskwaki Language/Culture required.
  • Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Language Coordinator and will be required to submit to a background check and pre-employment drug test.
