About the Role

The University of Chicago is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Director of Global Development and Partnerships. This key leadership position will play a critical role in advancing the University's global reach and partnerships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive global strategy to advance the University's research, education, and outreach missions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key global partners and networks, including academic institutions, governments, and private sector organizations.
  • Facilitate international research collaborations, exchange programs, and academic partnerships across degree and non-degree areas.
  • Support the development and administration of international educational programs, including internships and other student-facing opportunities.
  • Manage compliance and risk aspects of global activities, ensuring adherence to University policies and regulations.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for all financial, purchasing, grant, facilities, human resources, and support services management activities for the unit.
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of an international outreach database, and prepare and implement campus-based itineraries for visiting international delegations.
  • Establish and maintain a database of peer and competitor profiles, and help develop and maintain a database of faculty research topics and international inter-institutional collaborations.
  • Develop, maintain, and lead the analysis of catalogs and registries of information about student, staff, and faculty international travel.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.
  • Advanced degree in public policy, business administration, or a related field.
  • Significant experience working with an academic institution with global presence.
  • Knowledge of higher education and the University of Chicago.
  • At least ten years of experience working in higher education, preferably in a coordinating or leadership role.
  • Managing budgets, making decisions, and negotiating contracts.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build cooperative, effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders both on and off campus.
  • Work with individuals and institutions from diverse cultures and different parts of the world.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand, appreciate, and support the mission, traditions, culture, and interactions of an academic community.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information, exercise discretion, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, management, and communication skills.
  • Manage a wide range of responsibilities and multiple projects simultaneously.
