Certification Compliance Specialist

Job Type: Full-time

Overview:

The Certification Compliance Specialist will oversee and manage the daily operations associated with the certification processes for our diverse property portfolio. Under the guidance of the Compliance Administrator, this role is essential in ensuring adherence to various housing program regulations, including Low-Income Tax Credit, HUD, and Rural Development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain compliance by processing annual, interim, and unit transfer tenant income certifications across multiple affordable housing programs.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Update rent and subsidy information to guarantee accurate billing.
  • Prepare and distribute annual recertification notices in accordance with property-specific requirements.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by working collaboratively with residents and staff.
  • Foster positive relationships with residents, communities, and compliance agencies.
  • Safeguard resident confidentiality at all times.
  • Conduct weekly reviews of housing software dashboards to monitor workflow and address any deficiencies.
  • Maintain regular attendance at the designated work location during scheduled hours.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or GED; a Bachelor's degree in business or a related field is preferred.
  • Certification as an Occupancy Specialist is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in affordable housing property management, with a focus on compliance.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and experience with property management software, preferably Yardi Voyager.
  • Strong data entry skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic accounting knowledge and good mathematical skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel locally and regionally for training and meetings as necessary.
