About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Ops Technician to join our Central Infra Ops team at Amazon Data Services, Inc. This role will involve working with established best practices to refine operational procedures and develop new tooling to support our networks.

As an Infrastructure Ops Technician, you will be responsible for delivering the configuration and overall health of our infrastructure services for Amazonians and assisting in the development of innovative ways to automate and scale our infrastructure operations as we expand.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation and troubleshooting of infrastructure hardware, software, and connectivity
  • Ability to travel within geographical work area is required
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 environment
  • Communicate with technical and non-technical staff
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Display a commitment to quality and strong multitasking skills
  • Work closely with both internal customers and external vendors to maintain infrastructure health
A Day in the Life

As an Infrastructure Ops Technician, you will be responsible for solving problems at their root and stepping back to understand the broader context. You will maintain service level agreements through the implementation of proactive issue detection and reporting. You will be biased to act in the absence of direction or support and improve effectiveness through process innovation.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - BS in STEM area preferably in Information Systems or Computer Science, may be coupled with certifications to include CCNA, JNCIA + industry experience or 2+ year's IT systems or relevant experience.

  • 2+ years of experience in one or more of the following technical domains: Compute (Server and virtual machines. Wintel/*nix), Networking (Fundamentals Cisco CCNA or equivalent), Scripting (automation).
  • 2+ years of experience as a network engineer and deployments for largescale networks in a corporate environment with hands on experience with physical infrastructure installations including hardware integration, racking, and cabling

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - 2+ years' hands on experience on Cisco routers/switches/firewalls.

  • Experience working with data and telecom carriers to procure, deliver, and activate network circuits
  • Experience administering, deploying or supporting Aruba wireless network equipment
  • Demonstrated track record dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering measurable results in an agile environment
