Position Overview:
As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will undertake a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to support our healthcare team. Your responsibilities will include collecting patient information, obtaining medical histories, assisting with treatment procedures, preparing instruments for sterilization, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, scheduling appointments, and verifying patient insurance coverage.
You may also perform various clerical duties, including basic cashiering tasks. Adherence to hospital and departmental policies is essential. You will be involved in patient care across various age groups, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Safety: Follow established safety protocols and actively seek opportunities to enhance patient safety.
- Related Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as required.
- Cashiering: Handle basic cashiering tasks, including collecting payments and balancing cash registers.
- Patient Care: Assist in the admission, transfer, and discharge processes; manage prescription requests; support providers during treatment procedures.
- Data Management: Enter and verify patient data, schedule appointments, and manage phone communications.
- Environmental Maintenance: Ensure a sanitary work environment, report equipment issues, and manage supply inventory.
- Customer Service: Deliver high-quality service and ensure patient satisfaction.
- Medication Administration: Administer medications according to established protocols and document clinical findings.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Essential: High School diploma or GED equivalent; completion of an accredited medical assistant program.
- Specialization: Graduation from an MA accredited program or two years of relevant experience.
Experience:
- Essential: No minimum experience required.
- Nonessential: Bilingual candidates preferred; two years of directly related experience.
Credentials:
- Essential: CPR for Healthcare Providers or equivalent certification within 30 days; CMA, RMA, AMT, AAMA, NRCMA, CCMA, etc.
Physical Requirements:
Heavy Work: Ability to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds constantly to move objects or people.
Working Conditions:
- Hazards: Exposure to chemicals and biohazardous materials requiring personal protective equipment.
- May require travel to various work sites.
- Limited access to medication rooms.
- May require shift rotations.
