OBJECTIVE: Deliver Attendant Care (ATC) services to Arion Care members and their families, enabling them to maintain independence in their homes and engage in community activities. This role focuses on ensuring members' personal hygiene, daily living activities, and safe living environments, adhering to all relevant regulations and policies.



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


• Must be at least 18 years old.

• Successful completion of a background check.

• Ability to obtain a DPS fingerprint clearance card (FPCC).
-- Immediate Family Members (IFMs) may use a National Background Check in place of the FPCC.

• Minimum of 3 months experience assisting individuals with essential personal care needs, such as bathing, toileting, and eating. Nursing experience or a CNA license is preferred.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Show respect and encourage choice among members.

• Uphold the rights of individuals receiving support, fostering an environment free from abuse, neglect, or exploitation.

• Assist members with safe transfers in and out of beds, baths, wheelchairs, or vehicles.

• Aid members with dressing and grooming, including selecting clothing and maintaining personal hygiene.

• Support members with bathing and hygiene tasks, ensuring comfort and safety.

• Provide assistance with toileting needs, including reminders and necessary support.

• Help with household tasks such as changing linens, laundry, and cleaning shared living spaces.

• Plan, shop for, and prepare nutritious meals, or assist members in meal preparation.

• Support members during meals, ensuring proper nutrition and hydration.

• Perform light housekeeping duties, including cooking and cleaning.

• Carry out various tasks as requested by members, such as obtaining supplies or running errands.

• Guide members in simple prescribed exercises or the use of mobility aids.

• Assist with medication reminders or self-administration under the guidance of healthcare professionals.

• Accompany members to medical appointments or outings, providing transportation and companionship if authorized.

• Monitor and maintain members' skin integrity through prescribed tasks.

• Participate in supervisory visits for Attendant Care.

• Attend to the needs of certified service animals.

• Administer CPR and First Aid as necessary, addressing injuries or health concerns promptly.

• Engage with members to promote mental well-being and awareness.

• Complete assigned tasks in collaboration with nursing staff, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.

• Provide general supervision for members who require assistance.



TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:


• CPR and First Aid certification.

• Completion of Direct Care Worker (DCW) Fundamentals, Developmental Disabilities training (if applicable), and Aging/Physically Disabled training (if applicable).

• Training on Slips, Trips, and Falls prevention.

• Cultural Competency training.

• Driver training if applicable.

• Additional training as required.


PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:


• Ability to physically assist individuals, including lifting and transferring as needed.

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs or utilize mechanical lifts when necessary.

• Capability to walk, kneel, stand, and bend to assist with daily living activities and cleaning.

• Patience and self-control in challenging situations.

• Quick response to health, safety, and emergency situations.


EQUIPMENT USED:


• Computer, Internet, and Cell Phone.

• Household appliances and tools such as washers, dryers, vacuums, and cleaning supplies.

• Vehicle for transporting individuals when required.

• Assistance with adaptive or durable medical equipment as needed.
