We are seeking a skilled Therapist I/II to join our team at the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services. As a Therapist I/II, you will work in the 24 Hours Crisis Center of Behavioral Health and Crisis Services, providing clinical counseling services to children and adolescents.
Key Responsibilities- Apply crisis intervention principles and methods in the assessment, diagnosis, prevention, psychotherapeutic treatment, and case management of children who present to the Crisis Center.
- Provide adolescent screenings through the SASCA program, including substance use and mental health screenings, referrals, and case management.
- Conduct counseling groups and have knowledge and experience in treating clients with a wide variety of mental health disorders and substance use issues.
- Collaborate with agencies focused on children, such as Child Welfare Services, Department of Juvenile Services, and Montgomery County Public Schools.
- Collaborate and coordinate with other county agencies and community partners to accomplish integration of services, linkages to treatment, and response to community-wide emergencies, critical incidents, and disaster behavioral health situations.
- Master's Degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, nursing, or a related behavioral science field.
- One of the following licenses, issued by the State of Maryland, must be held prior to appointment and maintained by the employee: Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW), Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC), or Licensed Graduate Marriage and Family Therapist (LGMFT).
- Two years of professional experience rendering therapeutic counseling, social work, nursing, or psychology services, as pertinent to one's professional licensing.
- Valid Class C (or equivalent) driver's license from the applicant's state of residence when required for job-related duties.
- At least 3 years of clinical experience as a mental health practitioner treating youth with co-occurring disorders, persistent mental health issues, behavioral issues, and/or victimization and trauma.
- Demonstrated skill engaging youth and families who are resistant to services.
- Experience collaborating with DJS, CWS, and MCPS.
- Demonstrated skill providing case management services.
