Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer I/II to join our team at the Town of Estes Park. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for implementing the Town's Stormwater Management Plan and working on a wide range of municipal public works projects and programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain project and program records and documentation.
  • Interpret policy, codes, and regulations while implementing tasks and coordinating with stakeholders.
  • Uphold applicable codes, regulations, standards, and master plans.
  • Implement and/or manage Right-of-Way Management Program, Floodplain Management Program, and Land Development Program.
  • Prepare and manage scopes, schedules, budgets, priorities, and risks for the planning, design, and construction phases of assigned program projects.
  • Provide construction inspection services on assigned projects and review and approve construction phase submittals.
  • Research and interpret GIS mapping and coordinate revisions.
  • Support other Public Works Divisions as needed with their maintenance efforts of street, trail, and drainage systems.
  • Procure and manage consultants and contractors when needed.
  • Develop or coordinate the development of capital improvements data sheets, reports, studies, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and other technical documents for assigned projects.
  • Coordinate the bidding, award, contracting, and preconstruction phases on assigned projects.
  • Provide effective communication, guidance, and leadership with project team on all project issues.
  • Productively and professionally respond to citizen inquiries.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or 120 undergraduate credit hours from an accredited college or university with a major in civil engineering, construction management, or closely related field.
  • Minimum of six years of progressively responsible experience in transportation, traffic, and stormwater engineering, municipal land use/development planning and review, public works construction management, or closely related fields.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License and satisfactory driving record or ability to obtain within 6 months of hiring.
  • Floodplain Administrator (FA) must be credentialed as a Certified Floodplain Manager within 6-months of appointment as the Town's designated Floodplain Administrator.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more years of experience in the administration, financing, planning, design, and construction of multi-modal transportation and multi-disciplinary storm drainage improvements.
  • Experience in a public agency.
  • Credentials as a Certified Floodplain Manager, Construction Inspector, Erosion Control Supervisor, Traffic Control Supervisor, or closely related field.
