Role Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all shop machinery, equipment, and the facility itself are maintained in a clean, organized, and operational state. This role involves troubleshooting and repairing machinery and facilities as required, while also providing support to fellow maintenance personnel and shop staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Disassemble and service CNC machine coolant and chip conveyor systems to perform routine maintenance.
  • Adhere to a specific Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) schedule for CNC machines, including monitoring coolant and oil levels, cleaning or replacing filters, and maintaining overall machine cleanliness.
  • Assist in ensuring that all facility machinery operates efficiently and effectively.
  • Maintain the facility to the highest standards, proactively identifying potential issues that could lead to future malfunctions.
  • Foster effective communication with colleagues, building strong relationships with machine operators.
  • Conduct regular servicing, cleaning, and inspections of equipment in accordance with established preventative maintenance protocols.
  • Safely operate mobile equipment, including forklifts and hand trucks.
  • Follow manufacturer-recommended lubrication schedules for all equipment.
  • Identify and address safety hazards, such as spills or debris, promptly.
  • Properly mix and label cleaning agents in compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facility's interior and exterior, ensuring cleanliness and proper waste disposal.
  • Report any safety or maintenance concerns to management.
  • Clear snow from walkways and emergency exits, applying salt as necessary.
  • Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Perform basic electrical work, with three-phase experience considered an asset.
  • Engage in various woodworking tasks.
  • Handle plumbing tasks, including soldering pipes and fabricating copper fittings.
  • Welding skills are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Operate forklifts and small machinery safely.
  • Utilize basic hand and power tools, such as drills, saws, and grinders, safely and effectively.
  • Adhere to all established safety policies and procedures.
  • Be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing physical tasks such as walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Possess 5 years of relevant work experience, which is preferred.
