This position is part of the Enterprise Operations Team, dedicated to delivering robust compute and storage infrastructure for the organization's operational needs. Our team ensures continuous monitoring of critical systems, providing essential support around the clock.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of team processes and develop a dynamic knowledge base.
  • Oversee infrastructure equipment and server performance, ensuring optimal uptime.
  • Assist with backup administration and respond to restore requests efficiently.
  • Participate in enterprise server patching activities.
  • Support server vulnerability management initiatives.
  • Utilize a Data Center Infrastructure Management System (DCIM) for asset tracking and connection management.
  • Collaborate with system engineers and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software challenges.
  • Provide off-hours support, troubleshooting, and escalation as needed.
  • Propose and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Install and configure both commercial and open-source software packages.
  • Support data storage systems and backup services to ensure data integrity.
  • Generate metrics on technical performance as required.
  • Engage with engineering teams to automate workflows and enhance productivity.
  • Identify and implement automation/self-healing solutions.
  • Align with ITR's mission by upholding core values of Impact, Integrity, Teamwork, Safety, and Service, while promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in the workplace.
Essential Qualifications:
  • An Associate's degree in Information Technology or a related technical field, along with five to seven years of relevant experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Proficiency in the following areas:
    • PowerShell and other scripting tools
    • Backup architecture and operational practices
    • SCCM and server patching
    • Management of virtualized environments, including tuning and maintenance
    • Windows and Linux server platforms
    • Enterprise-class backup solutions
  • Basic understanding of network communication and effective troubleshooting techniques.
  • Familiarity with virtualization environments and their operations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for user support and collaboration with peer system administrators.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with automated VM cluster installation, configuration, and management.
  • Background in government, scientific, or other highly technical environments.
  • Ability to perform tasks while considering cybersecurity risks and consulting with security professionals as necessary.
  • Experience in environments requiring change control processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated individual capable of working independently and contributing creatively in collaborative team settings.
  • Aptitude for thriving in a fast-paced research environment, managing multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapting to evolving needs.
