Position Overview: Under supervision, the Automotive Service Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of various vehicles including cars, trucks, and agricultural machinery.
This role serves as an entry-level position within the Fleet Mechanic series, focusing on routine tasks and responsibilities.
Unlike the Diesel Mechanic role, this position involves more straightforward duties, and employees are expected to work under close guidance while developing their skills.
As this is typically a training position, candidates may have limited or no directly related experience. Employees will receive direct supervision as they learn their job functions.
Work Schedule: Night shift - Sunday through Thursday, 10 PM to 8 AM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on both on-road and off-road equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
- Maintain shop equipment functionality by adhering to operational guidelines and managing costs through warranty utilization and service evaluations.
- Assess vehicle performance through test drives and make necessary adjustments to controls and systems.
- Engage in on-the-job training and enhance job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reviewing technical publications.
- Document service records accurately in the Fleet Maintenance system.
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in electrical, mechanical, automotive engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience.
- Certifications in brake systems, refrigerant recovery, and engine diagnostics are preferred.
