About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Estimator to join our team at PCL Construction Services, Inc. in Bellevue, Washington. As a key member of our estimating team, you will be responsible for leading medium-to-large estimates and contributing to the development of conceptual estimate proposal submissions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimate Leadership: Lead medium-to-large estimates or components of large estimates, ensuring accuracy and accountability for the specific scope of work.
  • Contract Analysis: Conduct detailed analysis of contract documents and specifications to determine and validate overall project requirements.
  • Quantity Take-Offs: Ensure the completion of full quantity take-offs of all labor, equipment, and materials from project documents and identify missing information.
  • Proposal Development: Lead the development of conceptual estimate proposal submissions and presentations to support construction management and design-build pursuits.
  • Support and Coordination: Support the estimate lead by populating tender forms, generating requests for information, anticipating proposal requirements, and assisting to establish a pursuit schedule.
  • Risk and Opportunity Analysis: Conduct risk and opportunity analysis by reviewing all bid-related documents and utilizing project and industry knowledge.
  • Bid Document Control: Assist with bid document control by documenting, organizing, and archiving all information relating to the estimate for successful transfer to the project team.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team, including mentoring and coaching direct and indirect reports.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or diploma in a related discipline or trade experience or equivalent.
  • Experience: 8 years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating, and 6-12 months of on-site experience is preferred.
  • Leadership Experience: Successfully led pursuits valued at up to $150 million in various delivery methods.
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of different construction methods, planning, scheduling, sequencing, quality, safety, and timelines.
  • Estimating Skills: Extensive knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation, including quantity take-off procedures and systems, subtrade partner procurement, pricing, interdepartmental functions, general expense philosophy, and bid-closing procedures.
  • Business Acumen: Understanding of compensation models, market conditions, business trends, internal historical information, and competitors to develop win strategies.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with stakeholders, including the ability to solicit subtrade partners and suppliers.
  • Technical Skills: Working knowledge of estimating software, advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite, and a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
