Job Summary

PacifiCorp is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Student Engineer to join our team in Portland, OR. As a Student Engineer, you will assist in conducting analysis, creating system specifications, developing, testing, and updating engineering and business applications and databases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Energy Management System (EMS) Engineers in performing analysis, testing, and implementation of real-time EMS database systems.
  • Formulate and define specifications for real-time applications in a multi-platform environment.
  • Consult with the business regarding new functionality and enhancements to their systems.
  • Be responsible for quality assurance and the evaluation of new and existing software products.
  • Support the problem resolution process for database and application issues.
  • Work with other companies and entities to ensure that PacifiCorp meets their system requirements.
  • Resolve moderately complex errors and conflicts within the database.
  • Assist with developing operational scenarios to be used for training purposes.
  • Analyze system design, programming, and modifications.
Requirements
  • Enrolled full time in an accredited engineering college/university.
  • Sophomore standing or higher in electrical/computer engineering, computer science, information management systems, or a related field.
  • Ability to interact favorably with project and work teams.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations.
  • Proficient with the use of personal computers and automated tools.
  • Average hours of work per week not to exceed 20 hours per week per calendar year.
