Instructional Design Specialist

This is a casual hourly position in the Instructional Design team within Online Learning at Portland Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing course design and template updates, conducting Course Quality Reviews, and assisting faculty with prepping and personalizing a SAC shareable course shell to teach for the first time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply fundamental design principles, instructional design, adult learning theory, and culturally responsive teaching to online courses.
- Proficient in using all aspects of D2L Brightspace tools and Google Suite.
- Comfortable creating and editing HTML pages in D2L Brightspace that use a stylesheet from both the WYSIWYG and Source Code editors.
- Well-versed in creating documents to meet WCAG 2.1AA standards to meet the PCC Accessibility Technology Policy.
- Ability to update Brightspace courses using the fundamental principles outlined in Organizing for Student Success.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in an office environment or remotely. Work also involves sitting at a computer for extended periods of time.
Physical Requirements:
Physical exertion is not a normal responsibility of this classification.
