Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct a team to successfully execute structural inspection projects, ensuring adherence to client contracts and project financial goals.
  • Conduct field inspections and perform non-destructive testing on various materials.
  • Define and oversee project scope and budget, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements and making necessary adjustments.
  • Utilize project management software to monitor tasks and timelines, guaranteeing timely completion of project phases.
  • Oversee design task assignments for the team, including the preparation of calculations, plans, and submissions.
  • Effectively communicate high-level concepts with team members, internal design groups, and external stakeholders such as clients and government agencies.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines throughout the project lifecycle to ensure a cohesive design process with minimal revisions.
  • Address client needs promptly and effectively; manage conflicts and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Conduct constructability reviews and perform independent peer reviews on project submissions.
  • Potentially act as the Engineer of Record for designated projects.
  • Develop client relationships, identify business opportunities, and maintain client accountability.
  • Engage in project meetings with clients, sub-consultants, and contractors as required.
  • Negotiate and finalize contracts with clients and subconsultants in coordination with the finance and legal teams.
  • Collaborate with Project Accountants to establish projects, review expenses and labor charges, generate timely invoices, and assist in the collection of outstanding receivables.
  • Regularly submit and review financial reports, including project completion percentages, client billing, outstanding receivables, and profitability.
  • Leverage Client Relationship Management (CRM) tools to accurately track ongoing business opportunities.
  • Oversee proposal management for lead pursuits, including preliminary and final reviews.
  • Participate in marketing initiatives by providing timely updates on resumes, project descriptions, and proposal support.
  • Encourage professional development by mentoring and coaching team members, preparing them for advancement.
  • Identify skills and knowledge gaps within the department and seek opportunities for internal and external training.
  • Engage in personnel forecasting, recruitment, interviewing, candidate selection, and onboarding of new hires.
  • Ensure timely completion of timesheets and expense reports for self and team members.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience or 2 years of post-PE experience in a Project Manager role.
  • Proven track record in business development, client service, and project delivery.
  • Exceptional analytical, technical, and communication skills.

  • Experience with NBIS Bridge Inspections.
  • Experience with NTIS Tunnel Inspections.
  • TxDOT Precertified 6.1.2 Routine Bridge Inspection Project Manager.
  • TxDOT Precertified 6.2.2 Complex Bridge Inspection Project Manager.
  • TxDOT Precertified 6.3.2 Tunnel Inspection Project Manager.
