Job Summary

Thompson Engineering is seeking a highly skilled CEI Level II or Senior Construction Inspector to join our team in the Montgomery, AL area. As a key member of our construction inspection team, you will be responsible for ensuring that construction projects are completed in accordance with plans and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect construction projects to ensure compliance with plans and specifications
  • Verify workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards
  • Maintain accurate records of construction inspection activities
  • Prepare sketches of construction installations that deviate from plans and incorporate changes into master plans
  • Inspect and test materials incorporated into the project
  • Interpret specifications related to materials and workmanship
  • Drive company vehicle safely to and from worksites
  • Conduct all work activities in compliance with Thompson Engineering's Health, Safety & Environmental Management System, safety policies & procedures, safety execution plans and Job Safety and Environmental Analyses
  • Attend and participate in monthly safety meetings, project toolbox safety meetings and safety moments
  • Ensure on-time and regular attendance

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; four-year degree in Civil Engineering preferred
  • Five (5) plus years of experience in construction inspection, or a combination of experience and education in a related field of study
  • ALDOT Bridge construction experience required
  • Ability to be certified in Alabama for Concrete, Roadway Technician, Earthworks, QCI, and MUTCD
  • ACI Certification preferred
  • Intermediate math and geometry skills to calculate areas, volume, etc.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Computer skills that include Word, Excel, and Outlook

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in the outside elements of the field up to 100% of the time
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs
  • Required to remain standing for a minimum of eight (8) hours per day
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and climb on a ladder
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle to and from job sites
