Associate Civil Engineer Job Description

Pinpoint Talent is seeking a highly skilled Associate Civil Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our infrastructure development team, you will play a critical role in managing municipal infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with codes and regulations, and driving the success of public works projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review private development plans for compliance with city codes and regulations.
  • Evaluate transportation, traffic, and public works impacts of projects and provide recommendations.
  • Serve as the technical lead for project design and engineering reviews.
  • Coordinate key infrastructure initiatives like the City's Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
  • Prepare, review, and manage engineering plans, specifications, and estimates for municipal projects.
  • Oversee construction projects, ensuring contractor compliance with contracts, timelines, and budgets.
  • Administer permits for street use, utilities, and franchises while handling public inquiries.
  • Support city departments with engineering expertise, including inspections and maintenance programs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master's in Public or Business Administration is a plus).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience, ideally in municipal or consulting work.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in California or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering practices and regulations, including the California Streets and Highways Code, MUTCD, and Public Works Contract Code.
