Role Summary:
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for performing and instructing diagnostic procedures within the Nuclear Medicine domain. This role involves administering radiopharmaceuticals, operating advanced imaging equipment, and interpreting the resulting data. The technologist will work closely under the guidance of the Nuclear Medicine Supervisor and collaborate with Nuclear Medicine physicians.

Position Details:
This is a PRN (as needed) role within the Nuclear Medicine department. Technologists are expected to cover a minimum of 12 hours or two shifts monthly, depending on availability. The department operates Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 4 PM, with no on-call or holiday shifts required.

Key Responsibilities:
1. **Radiopharmaceutical Administration & Documentation:** Accurately identify patients, confirm essential details, and administer radiopharmaceuticals while maintaining thorough records.
2. **Patient Interaction:** Clearly explain procedures to patients, secure informed consent, and manage necessary documentation for study input and billing.
3. **Patient Assessment:** Review requisitions, medical charts, and lab results; conduct patient evaluations and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
4. **Advanced Imaging Duties:** Potentially engage in specialized tasks such as Positron Emission Technology (PET) imaging or assume lead technologist responsibilities.
5. **Radiopharmaceutical Management:** Oversee the receipt, documentation, and disposal of radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with safety regulations.
6. **Quality Control:** Ensure the accuracy of radiopharmaceutical selection, dosage, and quality checks prior to administration.
7. **Image Acquisition & Analysis:** Set up imaging protocols, maintain patient comfort, and analyze images for accuracy before submission to physicians.
8. **Documentation Management:** Utilize various systems to generate and maintain accurate documentation and billing records.

Additional Information

Educational Requirements:
● Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Registered as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or registry-eligible with a requirement to obtain registration within one year of hire. Ongoing maintenance of registry status and continuing education is mandatory.
● Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
Experience Requirements:
● No prior experience is necessary.

Must possess strong technical skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
