Position Overview

This role involves performing and instructing diagnostic procedures in the realm of Nuclear Medicine. The responsibilities include administering radiopharmaceuticals, operating sophisticated instruments, and analyzing the collected data.

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist operates under the direct guidance of the Nuclear Medicine Supervisor and collaborates closely with Nuclear Medicine physicians.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is adaptable, enjoys teamwork, and can work independently when necessary. This position is PRN (as needed) within the Nuclear Medicine department.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Administration & Record of Radiopharmaceutical: Verify patient identity, confirm essential details, and ensure informed consent.
  2. Maintain accurate records in the radiology management system for documentation and billing purposes.
  3. Ensure that female patients of childbearing age are not pregnant and arrange for necessary testing as directed by the Nuclear Medicine physician.
  4. Perform advanced duties as required, including tasks related to Positron Emission Technology (PET) imaging.
  5. Adhere to guidelines established by the Radiation Safety Office and NRC.
  6. Oversee radiopharmaceutical selection, dosage, and quality control, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  7. Prepare for and conduct procedures according to established protocols while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  8. Process imaging results and submit them for physician review.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program is required. Candidates must be registered as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or be registry eligible and obtain registration within one year of hire. No prior experience is necessary.
