Position Overview

As an IT Project Leader - Smart Grid Solutions, you will play a crucial role in shaping a sustainable future.

Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the delivery of multiple software initiatives within the IT Smart Grid Solutions portfolio, ensuring high standards of quality and innovation.

This portfolio will leverage cutting-edge advancements in automation, artificial intelligence, and cloud and grid-edge computing.


Your role will involve planning and managing projects of varying complexity, requiring daily decision-making related to project health, vendor performance, financial management, and risk mitigation.

You will ensure that technology investments yield positive business outcomes and align with strategic objectives.


Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including IT vendors, Grid Transmission & Innovation clients, IT PMO, Cybersecurity, Change & Release Management, Service Management, Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations.

Additionally, you will coordinate efforts among various collaborators to evaluate performance against project plans, resolve issues, and address customer concerns while effectively communicating with all levels of leadership.

As an IT Project Leader - Smart Grid Solutions, your contributions will help drive our mission to power the planet, reduce carbon emissions, and foster cleaner air for all.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct project planning, feature initiation, execution, and closure while adhering to SCE IT standards and protocols.
  • Conduct project planning, analysis, estimation, design, evaluation, demonstration, construction, and implementation for multiple concurrent initiatives of medium to high complexity.
  • Ensure that project outcomes meet business requirements and quality standards, facilitating user adoption.
  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiate Statements of Work, and ensure the delivery of quality goods and services.
  • Lead the development of project schedules and budgets, including resource allocation, cost planning, and variance analysis.
  • Proactively manage project risks and issues, ensuring adherence to scope, timelines, and budgets.
  • Participate in regular project team meetings and updates to communicate project objectives, status, and results.
  • Ensure compliance with PMO processes, including Release Management, Organizational Change, Root Cause Analysis, Financial Reporting, and Status Reporting.
Qualifications

Essentials:
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in project management (scope, schedule, and budget).
  • Seven (7) years of experience leading or supporting IT projects with a balanced understanding of business and technical aspects.
  • Three (3) years of experience managing large, complex projects with multi-functional teams.
  • Three (3) years of experience in project quality management, including quality assurance and metrics.
  • Two (2) years of experience managing suppliers and service contracts.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Computing Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in Information Technology within the electric utility sector.
  • Two (2) years of experience in IT portfolio management or customer relationship management.
  • Utility industry experience, particularly in smart meter and grid technologies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including mentoring, coaching, and team collaboration.
Tools and Certifications:

Experience with Agile tools (e.g., Jira, GitHub), Microsoft Project, Visio, and Office Suite. Possession of certifications such as PMI – Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP), SAFe Scaled Agile Framework Certification, PMI – Project Management Professional (PMP), or Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) is preferred.

Work Environment

This position operates in a hybrid work mode, with employees required to report to an SCE facility for a designated number of days while having the flexibility to work remotely on other days.

The primary work location is in California, with occasional travel required within the SCE service territory.
