Job Title: Mechanical Designer

Role Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join our team at NESC Staffing Corp. As a Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for designing and developing material handling equipment, treatment, and vitrification systems for our clients in the nuclear industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineers to understand design requirements for new or existing mechanical systems.
  • Create and update 2D/3D drawings and models using CAD software such as Solidworks, Microstation, and IGRIP.
  • Develop designs that comply with company regulations and client standards.
  • Use Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and appropriate CAD and CAE tools to perform design work.
  • Support equipment procurement by preparing procurement packages, reviewing quotations, and evaluating technical aspects.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment encouraging openness, teamwork, innovation, and satisfaction.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Grade 23: BS degree in Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering from an accredited institution with one year of relevant experience.
  • Grade 24: BS degree in Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering from an accredited institution with three years of relevant experience.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without visa sponsorship.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if required at the site), and background check.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in engineering and design software, with experience in 2D and 3D CAD applications.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Knowledge of industry codes, standards, and regulations relevant to complex engineering work.
  • Familiarity with preparing standard discipline deliverables and understanding of engineering budgets and schedules.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or equivalent in Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering.
  • Experience in equipment design and analysis in Department of Energy (DOE) or commercial nuclear facilities.

Compensation:

  • $45 - $62 per hour + per diem.
