Job Title: Cloud Solutions Architect

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Solutions Architect to join our team at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. As a Cloud Solutions Architect, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying cloud-based solutions that meet the needs of our sponsors and customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide subject matter expert guidance on cloud-related technical domains, including cybersecurity, data management, artificial intelligence/machine learning, and high-performance computing.
  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of cloud solutions, including advising, designing, reviewing, and developing solutions as needed.
  • Develop a deep understanding of sponsor needs and challenges to act as their voice with development teams and shape solutions.
  • Partner with operations teams to advance cloud offerings and capabilities to meet sponsor needs.
  • Use project experience and opportunities to advance cloud strategy and understanding of sponsor requirements.
  • Guide application teams to optimize solution delivery cloud best practices and enterprise standards.
  • Optimize cloud costs through effective resource management, selecting the right pricing models, and leveraging deep service knowledge.
Requirements:
  • BS/BA and 7+ years of relevant work experience, or MS/MA and 5+ years of relevant work experience, or PhD with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • At least 15+ years of relevant experience in industry, with at least 5+ years of technical project leadership in cloud solution design and cloud infrastructure/migration.
  • Experience facilitating discussions with senior leadership regarding technical/architectural trade-offs, best practices, and risk mitigation.
  • Direct hands-on experience leading the design, development, and deployment of cloud solutions at scale or current hands-on technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization experience.
  • Deep familiarity with Cloud and Cloud-Native Principles, including hands-on experience with cloud services (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Expert-level skill in one or more cloud-related technical fields, including cybersecurity, large-scale data management, artificial intelligence/machine learning, high-performance computing, and large-scale data analytics, machine learning operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • BS/BA or MS/MA degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science, or other related technical field.
  • At least 15+ years of relevant experience in industry, with at least 5+ years of technical project leadership in cloud solution design and cloud infrastructure/migration.
  • Experience facilitating discussions with senior leadership regarding technical/architectural trade-offs, best practices, and risk mitigation.
  • Direct hands-on experience leading the design, development, and deployment of cloud solutions at scale or current hands-on technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization experience.
  • Deep familiarity with Cloud and Cloud-Native Principles, including hands-on experience with cloud services (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Expert-level skill in one or more cloud-related technical fields, including cybersecurity, large-scale data management, artificial intelligence/machine learning, high-performance computing, and large-scale data analytics, machine learning operations.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance. Requirements include U.S. Citizenship, a background investigation, and the ability to demonstrate non-use of illegal drugs, including marijuana, for the 12 consecutive months preceding completion of the requisite Questionnaire for National Security Positions (QNSP).
