Behavioral Health Advocate

Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board seeks a dedicated Case Manager to join our Behavioral Health Docket program.
Responsibilities:- Conduct thorough assessments to develop tailored treatment plans for individuals with Serious Mental Illness and Substance Abuse Disorders.
- Provide supportive counseling, crisis intervention, and link clients to essential services, ensuring continuity of care.
- Serve as a liaison between the criminal justice system and re-entry committees, advocating for clients' needs and monitoring their progress closely.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services (Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling) and at least one year of experience in case management services.
- Valid Driver's License and ability to conduct psychoeducation groups and participate in group counseling.
- Successful passing of a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test, and employment reference checks.
The ideal candidate will possess strong interviewing and supportive counseling skills, knowledge of community resources and regional/state programs for substance-abusing adults, and an understanding of federal and state laws governing clients' rights and confidentiality.
