Job Overview
Smith's Interconnect is in search of a skilled Manufacturing/Process Engineer dedicated to analyzing both new and established manufacturing processes. The goal is to implement effective systems that enhance operational efficiency, minimize costs, elevate quality, and boost production throughput through established Process Engineering methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and execute initiatives aimed at process enhancement.
• Calculate manufacturing and cost benchmarks for newly developed or revised products.
• Evaluate manufacturing machinery for adequacy and appropriateness.
• Perform capability assessments and time analysis.
• Apply lean manufacturing principles, including 5S methodologies.
• Create and maintain documentation such as work instructions and process flow diagrams.
• Provide training to manufacturing staff on continuous improvement methodologies and tools.
• Spearhead programs and projects focused on improving environmental and safety standards.
• Explore and develop applications for innovative technology and automation within production processes. Ensure compliance with all Smiths Connectors EHS policies, procedures, and training requirements.
Candidate Profile
• A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is required, with a preference for BSME or BSEE.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in process improvement or quality control within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and AS9100 standards.
• Ability to resolve complex manufacturing challenges.
• Proficient in tools such as 5S, PFMEA, DMAIC, Control Plans, DOE, and PPAP.
• Experience in establishing labor rates and evaluating performance against these standards.
• Competence in software applications including Word, Excel, and SolidWorks.
• Experience with CAD software is advantageous.
• Capable of designing plant layouts to maximize efficiency and product flow.
• Experience with robotics is preferred but not mandatory.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively with all levels of personnel.
