About the Team

The Regulatory Legal & Compliance Team at Airwallex operates globally, collaborating across various jurisdictions to formulate and implement regulatory strategies that facilitate market expansion and sustainable growth of our operations.

This team is tasked with obtaining new regulatory licenses as we broaden our product offerings and geographic reach, while also establishing robust compliance measures and programs.

This role specifically focuses on the Yield product.

Yield is an innovative addition to Airwallex's suite of offerings, designed to enable businesses globally to invest their cash in fixed income products, such as money market funds.

Having launched in Australia, the Yield team is rapidly expanding to support its growth into new markets and financial product categories.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Senior Product Counsel for Yield, you will play a crucial role within the global legal and compliance team, assisting our rapidly growing business in navigating a complex regulatory environment.

Although your base will be in one of our major U.S. locations, you will have multi-regional responsibilities, supporting our regulatory strategy and providing guidance on intricate regulatory matters across the United States, Canada, and potentially Latin America.

Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with licensing and regulatory requirements through the implementation of appropriate measures and controls.

This dynamic position is ideal for individuals who thrive in multifaceted roles, enjoy solving complex challenges for clients, are detail-oriented, and possess a strong sense of curiosity and intellectual honesty.

Specific Duties:
  • Collaborate with local legal counsel across jurisdictions, including Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, the U.S., the U.K., and the European Union, to identify and create optimal regulatory pathways.
  • Provide legal support and guidance to product teams, local legal departments, support functions, and senior management.
  • Review and revise manuals, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders across the Airwallex group globally.
  • Oversee external counsel and consultants on regulatory issues.
  • Develop and manage regulatory submissions and filings, reporting on requirements internally and in regulatory communications.
  • Support government relations initiatives with legislators and regulatory bodies.
Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor degree with over 10 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Experience in investment products and familiarity with broker-dealer regulatory environments or their equivalents in international markets.
  • Strong regulatory background within the fintech sector, reputable law firms, or financial institutions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the financial services regulatory landscape.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage diverse internal and external parties.
  • Proactive, results-oriented, and accountable for your work.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and work collaboratively with strong communication skills.
  • Excellent drafting capabilities.
