Position Overview

The Healthcare Simulation Coordinator plays a pivotal role in enhancing the educational experiences of medical and nursing students, as well as other healthcare professionals within the Simulation Collaborative, Anatomy Lab, and Surgical Skills Training Center (SSTC). This role involves providing essential support for educational initiatives by facilitating pre- and post-simulation training, managing technical and administrative responsibilities, and ensuring proper documentation and resource management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and manage simulations by programming, testing, and executing scenarios in collaboration with faculty instructors to ensure readiness of the Simulation Center and its equipment for educational sessions.
  • Develop expertise in utilizing various simulator technologies, including anatomical models, task trainers, screen-based simulators, full-body patient simulators, and virtual reality surgical simulators.
  • Assist the SSTC/Anatomy Lab Manager during anatomy lab and surgical training sessions, which includes setup, operation, and cleanup, such as arranging surgical instruments and maintaining cleanliness of surgical gowns.
  • Enforce compliance with environmental and BSL-2 safety protocols within the Anatomy Lab and Surgical Skills Training Center.
  • Provide operational support across the Simulation Collaborative, Anatomy Lab, and SSTC as required.
  • Achieve proficiency in all aspects of equipment operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Communicate effectively with the Director/Assistant Director of Simulation Operations and/or Anatomy/SSTC Lab Manager regarding technology, equipment, and operational needs critical for the effective functioning of supported programs.
  • Collect data to support operational, research, and commercial initiatives as necessary.
  • Participate in technical training and attend relevant conferences to remain informed about advancements in simulation technology. Conduct facility tours and participate in events to promote our programs.
  • Uphold professionalism, ethical standards, and confidentiality regarding anatomical donors, students, and faculty.
  • Perform designated roles in simulation encounters as required. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: An associate degree or equivalent experience in a healthcare or science-related discipline.

Physical Requirements:

This role primarily involves sedentary work with extensive use of desktop computers. Occasional travel may be required for meetings and programs. Candidates must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

This is a full-time salaried position with variable hours based on the educational needs of learners, typically averaging 40 hours per week, including potential early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
