The Fingerprint Specialist for Safe Release Support plays a crucial role in the background verification process for the safe placement of minors with sponsors. This position involves capturing fingerprints of potential guardians and their household members as part of the Office of Refugee Resettlement's protocols. Ensuring that minors are placed in secure environments is essential for family reunification efforts.

In this role, you will also assist sponsors in completing necessary documentation, clarify the family reunification procedures, and provide access to community resources that are culturally and linguistically appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with shelter case managers to schedule fingerprint appointments based on sponsor availability
  • Create and maintain electronic files for fingerprint appointments and upload necessary documentation into the case management system
  • Identify and connect sponsors and minors with local resources for medical, mental health, educational, and legal support
  • Complete all required background checks for access to the Safe Release Support Fingerprint Systems
  • Adhere to HHS Rules of Behavior, ORR Policies, and the Safe Release Support Program Site Operations Manual
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in compliance with HIPAA standards
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; undergraduate degree preferred
  • At least two years of experience in office administration, customer service, child welfare, or case management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and UC Portal
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required
  • Team-oriented with a commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Adaptable and able to work effectively under pressure

Special Requirements

  • Spanish language proficiency is preferred
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time
  • A valid driver's license is necessary
  • Must pass an FBI background check and a CA/N check for all states of residence in the past five years
