About the Role

Crescent City Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the educational experience of our students with exceptionalities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Academic Support: Provide instruction in small and large groups to help students achieve significant improvement in their academic performance.
  • IEP Development: Collaborate with colleagues to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that promote students' academic, physical, and social development.
  • Behavioral Support: Develop Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as needed to address students' behavioral and social needs.
  • Communication: Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and involve them in the educational process.
  • Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with best practices in special education and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues in grade-level and subject-level teams to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • School Involvement: Participate in the life of the school, including student activities and events, to foster a sense of community and belonging.
  • Data-Driven Instruction: Use data to track student achievement and inform instruction to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Meeting Participation: Participate in daily, weekly, and quarterly meetings about student achievement to ensure a shared understanding of student needs.
  • Leadership: Embody, advocate, and operationalize the mission, vision, and direction of the school to inspire and motivate students and colleagues alike.

  • BA or BS Degree: Possess a BA or BS Degree (preferred) and be certified in Special Education (or equivalent certification in another state).
Physical Requirements
  • Physical Demands: Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
