Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs of students with disabilities.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with state and national standards, ensuring students with disabilities achieve academic success.
  • Provide feedback and support to students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement strategies to support students with disabilities, including behavior intervention plans and transition planning.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in special education, including research-based interventions and technologies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Valid Louisiana teaching certification in Special Education.
  • 2+ years of experience teaching students with disabilities in an urban setting.
  • Strong knowledge of state and national special education laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Mastery of special education laws and regulations.
  • Experience with behavior intervention plans and transition planning.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
  • Fluency in a second language.
