Job Summary:

The Success Mentor will provide long-term support to students in elementary and/or middle school, establishing and upholding relationships with children and families over a period of at least twelve months or longer, if possible.

An effective mentor will support the social-emotional development of students, helping them to develop leadership skills and succeed in school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide parental communication and support regarding student progress and potential opportunities.
  • Offer support and intervention as needed to help each child remain on track for success.
  • Create and advance a personal and optimistic relationship with a child.
  • Monitor student progress and assist students in accomplishing personal objectives.
  • Interact with students throughout the day to observe and support positive growth.
  • Provide timely feedback to students and their parents to keep them engaged in the child's positive social-emotional development.
  • Communicate with students, parents, and school leadership on any concerns that may develop.
  • Provide ongoing mentoring in a supportive after-school environment.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience, or comparable, with elementary/middle school students supporting their social-emotional well-being.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience communicating and supporting families using workshops, family interaction, and intervention skills.
  • Understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how it contributes to self-paced online learning.
  • Must be capable of accessing and transmitting information using a computer.

Qualifications:

  • High school Diploma required.
  • Minimum 3 years student support experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience working with a diverse student population is helpful. Bilingual; Spanish is a plus.

Working Conditions:

This role requires you to be in-person and work with students, parents, and school leadership.

The work schedule will be consistent Monday through Friday with potential for some weekend or evening scheduled activities or events.
