Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Community and Economic Development Specialist. This role will be responsible for developing and managing economic development and regional planning programs, as well as performing professional planning duties that require considerable breadth and depth of knowledge and expertise in community and economic development, land use planning, and transportation planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage economic development and regional planning programs
  • Perform professional planning duties, including proposal development, budget development, contract negotiation, project programming, and project management
  • Manage the work of others, including professional and support staff, contractors, and/or representatives of other agencies and organizations
  • Supervise staff to implement regional planning, transportation, and economic development projects and programs
  • Represent the Community and Economic Development Department and the agency in interactions with federal, state, and regional agencies, local governments, and others
Requirements
  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with emphasis in planning, engineering, public administration, architecture, geography, political science, or a related field
  • AICP or other certifications (AIA, GISP, LEED, PE, EIT, etc.) are preferred
  • A Master's Degree or higher in planning, public administration, or related field is desirable
  • A minimum five years progressively responsible planning experience, with at least three years in a planning or management position
Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily in an office environment utilizing a personal computer, telephone, and a variety of office equipment. Position requires sitting for long periods of time and performing extensive computer work. Travel is required to attend meetings and events.

Possession of a Valid Oregon Driver's License or ability to obtain reliable transportation to travel throughout the assigned area.
