Position Overview:

The Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation (MMI) at UNMC is seeking applications for a Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist at an open faculty rank (Rank DOQ). This role involves providing outpatient comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and treatments for individuals with autism spectrum disorder, other intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as neurotypical individuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments to accurately diagnose mental health conditions.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans based on assessment findings and clinical judgment, adjusting them as necessary to meet evolving patient needs.
  • Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions and conduct regular follow-up appointments to monitor patient progress.
  • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, ensuring efficacy and monitoring for side effects.
  • Educate patients and caregivers about medications, including potential side effects, risks, and benefits.
  • Collaborate with therapists and psychologists to provide comprehensive care.
  • Offer crisis intervention and emergency consultations as required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Engage in continuing education and stay current with developments in the field of psychiatry.
  • Participate in education, research, or other scholarly activities as part of an academic medical center.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification or board eligibility in child and adolescent psychiatry.
  • Eligibility for state medical licensure to practice psychiatry in Nebraska.
  • Current DEA certificate and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
