Pediatric Pulmonology Faculty Position

Position Overview:
The Section of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine at Atrium Health Wake Forest School of Medicine is inviting applications for a full-time faculty role specializing in Pediatric Pulmonology and Pediatric Sleep Medicine. Candidates must possess board certification in Pediatrics and either board certification or eligibility in Sleep Medicine and Pediatric Pulmonology. The academic rank will be determined based on the candidate's experience.
Clinical Responsibilities:
The selected provider will be expected to rotate among satellite clinics located within a 30-mile radius. The Pediatric Pulmonology section at Brenner Children's Hospital serves a diverse patient population with complex conditions, including:
- Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD)
- Patients requiring chronic or non-invasive ventilation
- Neuromuscular respiratory disorders
- Asthma management
- Cystic Fibrosis
- Sleep-related disorders
- Interstitial lung disease
- Sickle cell lung complications
Pediatric Sleep Services:
- The sleep clinic is staffed by three sleep specialists, including a pediatric psychiatrist, and operates five sleep center locations with a total of 17 beds.
- A portable unit is available for pediatric inpatients on the main campus.
- The clinics maintain a patient-to-technician ratio of 2:1 in adult labs, with pediatric ratios varying from 1:1 to 2:1 based on patient needs.
- Transitioning to advanced technologies, including Compumedics and Somnoware, is currently underway.
Pediatric Pulmonary Services:
- The multidisciplinary team comprises five pediatric pulmonologists, a dedicated cystic fibrosis physician, and a nurse practitioner.
- As an accredited Cystic Fibrosis center, we have a fully equipped team including providers, nurse coordinators, psychologists, respiratory therapists, social workers, dieticians, and pharmacists.
- We conduct multidisciplinary clinics for various conditions, including cystic fibrosis and ventilator dependency.
- Inpatient and outpatient bronchoscopy services are available, supported by on-call bronchoscopy technicians.
- Collaboration with adult pulmonary specialists, pediatric ENT, NICU, PICU, and other pediatric subspecialists is a key aspect of our approach.
- Satellite clinics are operational in nearby locations.

Brenner Children's Hospital serves as the primary hub for pediatric healthcare within Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. The facility features 175 inpatient beds, 11 PICU beds, and 79 NICU beds, admitting approximately 4,500 children annually. The hospital is recognized as a Level I pediatric trauma center and has received accolades for its comprehensive pediatric care.
