Role Summary:

The Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Bake Shop General Manager by overseeing a dedicated team to foster a warm and inviting atmosphere for our patrons. This position involves engaging with both team members and customers to ensure the mission and vision of the organization are upheld. The Assistant Manager is also tasked with achieving the establishment's financial, quality, and service objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the store manager and act in their absence.
  • Oversee daily operations of the bake shop.
  • Uphold integrity and honesty in all dealings.
  • Exhibit reliability and dependability.
  • Maintain composure during peak periods or unexpected situations.
  • Address customer inquiries and concerns with professionalism.
  • Guide and direct staff effectively.
  • Provide training and mentorship to team members.
  • Hold team accountable for their performance and conduct.
  • Exhibit strong communication capabilities.
  • Practice active listening.
  • Demonstrate hands-on leadership qualities.
  • Participate in the recruitment process when necessary.
  • Ensure proper execution of opening and closing procedures.
  • Foster a work environment that prioritizes food safety and health standards.
  • Assist in compliance with all relevant safety and health regulations.
  • Contribute to the implementation of new menu items.
  • Manage inventory effectively.
  • Establish and control food waste management practices.
  • Lead the bake shop to surpass standards in food quality, safety, and cleanliness.
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to enhance employee satisfaction, guest experiences, and financial outcomes.
  • Maintain flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications:

  • Education: GED or High School Diploma.
  • At least two years of experience in food service management.
  • Preferred experience in hospitality.
  • Strong understanding of food allergies and food safety.
  • Conflict resolution skills are essential.
  • Experience in analyzing financial documents.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Positive attitude with a passion for learning and development.
  • Commitment to coaching and developing team members.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene.
  • Capable of standing and working for extended periods.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Detail-oriented and punctual.
  • Open to new ideas and changes.
  • Possess a current Employee Permit for alcohol service.
  • Food Handler Card required; provided by the company.
  • Manager ServSafe Certification is preferred.

Supervision:

This position operates under the guidance of the Bake Shop General Manager.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Work with hot, cold, and potentially hazardous equipment.
  • Operate high-pressure steamers or high-temperature water systems.
  • May be required to work in extreme temperature conditions for extended periods.
  • Regularly required to stand and move throughout the establishment.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
